f&f challenge blog...

I am back today with the kick off challenge for the new Frilly and Funkie blog. It is all about vintage at the Frilly and Funkie... any style, any way! Every other Wednesday there will be a new challenge, the first week the Frilly Designers will post their take on the challenge theme and the second week the Funkie Designers will post theirs but, this is a special one week challenge to get things started. The theme for the kick off is "Your Favorite Vintage Style"... mmmm, how easy is that! You know what mine is...
I so loooovvvveeee the papers and images that come in this scrapbook paper set...
and the cute little distressed/stained mini clothes pin, the sweet venise lace, the mini brown kraft envelope.... such lovely vintage finds. You pull the tag out (the one with the clothes pin on it) and it has the sentiment (I forgot to take a photo of that) stamped on it.
Want to know where I got these lovely papers and embellishments? Well, Linda (the owner of the challenge blog) has a sweet little shop called the The Funkie Junkie Boutique and it is filled with so many great items from scrapbook paper, trims, embellishments, lace, a HUGE selection of Tim Holtz and Ranger products, just to name a few! If you like vintage... you have to check out here shop, her prices are incredible too! Pretty much everything on the above card was made with products from her shop with the exclusion of the seam binding, buttons and pearls.

Well, this is the first challenge, I am already anxiously awaiting for the next challenge! Until then, make sure you check out the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog to see what the other designers have created for you and well as to see who won the $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I hope you get to play along with this challenge and can't wait to see what you create!

funkie & frilly...

Good morning everyone... I hope you are awake!!! I have some fun and exciting news to share. Not too long ago, I received an email from a sweet lady, Linda Coughlin, asking me if I would be interested in being a Design Team member at her new challenge blog she was starting. Well, after searching her beautiful blog out, I of course had to YES! I am joining the "Frilly" side of Design Team and I am super excited about this journey. The name of the challenge blog is Frilly and Funkie... click on the link to check it out. This past week she has been revealing the new Design Team and I made a special card to showcase my style... unless this is your first time here, you already know it is shabby/vintage : )
I dug out some of my favorite lace... and some new additions too! The sentiment is from Tim Holtz.
It was time to do another little hand stitched heart.
So, if you want to check out the new Frilly and Funkie challenge blog, head on over there! While you are there you can visit the other Design Team blogs and leave a comment at each blog to be entered into a random drawing for a fabulous $25 gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie's Boutique (Linda's shop). The winner will be announced March 28th so, there is still time to enter.

Also, the first challenge will begin on March 28th!

Thanks for stopping by...

"bright & beautiful spring" ~ the shabby tea room...

Good Monday morning all! This week in The Shabby Tea Room we have yet another beautiful inspirational photo...
Photo Inspiration # 107
Our host this week is Fran and she asks that we create a card/project using the colors Lilac, Yellow, Blue and Kraft with the use of a butterfly. This is my project...
I really like the font on these stamps and the shabby music background is going to be one that I will use again and again. I first used some Versa Mark Watermark Ink, sprinkled some white embossing powder and heat dried until just a bit glossy... very pretty although it doesn't show up in the photos very well.
For my butterfly, I die cut this little cutie from felt and then machine stitched around it for a little more detail.
And that is my project, make sure you check out the rest of the Shabby Girls at their blogs (you can find each one of their links on my left side bar under the little tea pot) for more beautiful inspiration.

I hope you get to play along in The Shabby Tea Room this week as there is an amazing prize package from JustRight Stampers, it includes three great stamps... the Shabby Music (the one I used), Harlequin Script & Vintage Map Collage background stamps!!!

Have a wonderful day...

spring tag class...

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing some photos of the class I will be teaching at Scrapbook Generation Thursday, March 22nd at 6 pm. I do apologize for being so late on the photos... I need another vacation already (not really, that is what has me in the rush mode now).

We will be making 3 small tags, 3 larger tags and 6 glassine bags which you can insert the tags into and a little treat. There are lots of sweet little embellishments on the larger tags like, old book print butterflies, buttons, felt hearts and rolled flowers (my favorite), lots  of lace snippets, sweet sentiments, doilies, fabric pieces and the most important thing of all... adorable images from the ever so talented Beatriz Jennings (thank you Beatriz for allowing me to showcase your images in my class).
Each of the tags will fit down into these glassine bags... you can do it the way I have it in the photo or you can fill the bag with lots more goodies and give the tag along with the treat bag. You will make a total of 6 bags (one for each tag). They are not all showed in the photos but, they all coordinate with the tags (same design just different papers).
Now, these are the smaller tags... they have cute embossing textures and little fabric strips.
and then, the little glassine bags that the tag slips down into...
Lastly, a look at both glassine bags. They all will have these designs just different paper to coordinate with the tags.
Hope to see you tomorrow evening...

You can head over to Scrapbook Generation to grab their number and call to sign up!

P.S.  If you don't live close by... just drop me an email and I can reserve you a kit!

Pennant Party...

Happy Monday morning everyone! Well, I am happy... it is good to be back from vacation (we had a great time in Colorado). Now it is time to share with you my good news... I will be one of the Shabby Girls in The Shabby Tea Room. This is my first official post and here is the beautiful inspiration photo...
Debbie is our host this week and the theme is "Pennant Party". All you have to do is create a card/project using the colors in the photo and include a pennant, flag or banner. Here is my card...
I loved making this banner out of sweet fabric scraps... then I added some letter stickers from My Mind's Eye.
The sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps... I used the Two Roses Stamp, giving them some color using the inspiration photo. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
I hope you get to play along... see you in The Shabby Tea Room for all the details and some other great projects from the other Shabby Girls!

tags and more...

Hello friends... tonight I have a few projects to share! Sorry, this week has just flown by and there is so much to do before Spring Break! First up are a couple of tags using some of my Sizzix dies... poor things, I had to do some serious dusting before using them. Seriously, I have neglected them...
Getting ready for Spring Break got me in the mood to do some spring colors and flowers. This tag also uses some Melissa Frances, hand stitching, felt, My Mind's Eye, tea stained vintage lace and pearls.
I just love the flower die... I will never leave you again.
At the bottom of both tags I used some fabric to make a pretty border.
Don't these tags just make you happy? The colors are cheerful (minus the fact that it is raining and very cloudy, so the pictures aren't real cheerful) and so many fun elements and textures.
Next, a little card using some of Crafty Secrets sweet products...
I used an old book page... very vintage, a sweet little image from the Little Blessings Creative Scraps and butterflies and sentiments from the Born To Fly Stamp Set.
Other stuff used include some seam binding, doily, vintage lace and button.
Alrighty... I have to get off here and get some stuff done.

Have a great evening!

care package...

Happy Saturday... it is sunny and beautiful (but chilly) here in the ozarks today! The family and I are about to head out and enjoy the day but before I leave, I wanted to share a little project I whipped up last night.
This little package feature goodies from My Mind's Eye, Papertrey Ink and sweet, sweet images from Beatriz Jennings.
The die cut with the rose is a free printable from the internet... you can find here and the other images used on both projects are from this beautiful Etsy Shop... Beatriz Jennings!
The sentiment and pretty die cut border is from Papertrey Ink... I adore both of these!!!
To go with the card, I made a little treat bag filled with some spring "York Peppermint Patties"... I love those things (especially when they come wrapped in pretty blue, pink and silver packaging)!
and there you go.... my weekend inspiration for you (or at least I hope it inspired you)! Have a beautiful weekend!
