Spring is Love...

Welcome to week #112 in The Shabby Tea Room. Our wonderful host this week is Debbie, her theme is "Spring is Love" and has chosen this lovely inspirational photo for us...
Photo inspiration #112
She asks that we create a card/project using the colors from the photo, flowers, polka dots and a heart. All sounds delightful... right? Well, it was for me... love the colors, polka dots are fun and I LOVE to use hearts! Here is my card...
Our sponsor this week is Little Darlings Rubber Stamps. I have used the "Sooo Big" stamp.
Sponsor #112 (1)
The papers are from My Mind's Eye, sentiment from Papertrey Ink and a little piece of fabric tape... I am so addicted to fabric and washi tape right now.
I hand stitched a couple of hearts (I could not stop with just one)!
So, now it is your turn... head on over to The Shabby Tea Room to check out all the details on the challenge and to join in on the fun. Little Darlings Rubber Stamps will be giving the winner of the challenge a $10 gift certificate.

Soft & Sweet...

Good Friday morning all! I have a project to share, using a few of my favorite Sizzix dies. They are the Sizzix Bigz L Die - Baby CarriageSizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Vintage Lace EdgingSizzix Movers & Shaper Magnetic Die 2 PK - Mini Butterflies Set and the Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, 3-D Fringed... all are awesome with so many possibilities! I chose to make a little bag to hold a baby gift...
To assemble the bag (I used a 9 X 6 paper bag), fold the top of the bag down about an inch and trim with pinking shears. Using the Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Vintage Lace Edging, die cut from patterned paper and trim to fit across the folded edge. Ink if desired and adhere to the backside of flap and stitch along the top with sewing machine (if you stitch, make sure you don't go thru both layers)! Stamp sentiment at the top left corner of fold.
Using the Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, 3-D Fringed, die cut two medium and two small flowers from Crepe Paper, layer and adhere together. Using the Sizzix Movers & Shaper Magnetic Die 2 PK - Mini Butterflies Set, die cut a butterfly from cardboard, apply paint and adhere in the center of flower, adhere flower in the right corner of fold. Thread button and adhere in the center of butterfly.
Now for the carriage... using the Sizzix Bigz L Die - Baby Carriage, die cut the base of carriage from fabric, top of carriage from patterned paper, the scalloped ruffles from felt, wheels from patterned paper, flowers for wheels from felt and the handle from patterned paper (the handle is not a separate piece, it is part of the base carriage... just run thru machine again and trim to where you have only the handle).
Machine stitch around the base of carriage, wheels and top of carriage. Adhere the felt scalloped ruffles behind edge of the top carriage piece as shown in photo. Apply some Pop - Dots behind piece and adhere to bag. Adhere the base of carriage, apply Pop - Dots behind handle and adhere. Adhere lace across the top of carriage, adhere rhinestone heart in middle of carriage. Stamp "It's a" on tag, adhere "girl" Chit Chat sticker from Tim Hotlz and adhere behind heart. Make a bow and adhere in left corner of carriage.
Adhere a strip of fabric (I trimmed the bottom edge of fabric with pinking shears), machine stitch using a zig-zag stitch along the top of fabric. Adhere "count your blessings" die cut in the middle of fabric. Apply Pop - Dots behind wheels, adhere round wheels as shown in photo. Adhere felt flowers in middle of wheels and adhere fabric flowers in center of wheels.

And there you have it... a sweet little gift bag!

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your weekend!

April Flowers...

This is the theme this week in The Shabby Tea Room and Starr is our lovely host. She has a beautiful inspiration photo for us...
and asks that we make card/project using the colors in the photo, lace or ribbon and some flowers. This week's sponsor is The Cutting Cafe and I chose to use the adorable little house shaped card file.
You can't tell from the photo but, this card flips open (it is scored at the top) I cut out the House Shaped Card from cardstock then cut out a roof, base of house and chimney from patterned paper.
Super fun, quick and easy.... and stinking cute!
I hope you enjoyed your visit... now, head on over to the other Shabby Girls' blogs to see what they have fixed up for you! I also hope you get to join in on the fun challenge for your chance to win 3 files of your choice from The Cutting Cafe.

repurpose to upcycle in the F&F...

Welcome to another fun challenge at the Frilly and Funkie blog challenge. This week our host is Anita and this is her theme and explanation for the challenge...

RePurpose to UpCycle: We all live on Mother Earth and have to do our part to keep her healthy, not just on Earth Day but always. As paper crafters it's very important not to waste much. For this challenge, use at least two repurposed items to create an upcycled paper project, and don't forget to list what they are. Extra kudos to you if you can depict Mother Earth in some way as well.

So, with recycling in my mind, I searched my craft room looking for some things that could be reused... I came up with some packaging and an empty thread spool. I created a card and pin cushion set with a sewing theme.
The card uses some old packaging from Prima... I love to recycle them because they have such pretty prints on them.
The sweet little vintage image can be found in the Pion Designs Scrapbooking Paper Kit... the link is at the bottom of the page. I love the little sewing notions too!
I assembled the pin cushion together by using a dowel rod inserted into the tip of the old heart and thru the hole in thread spool. The repurposed item on this project is the thread spool... keep them, you never know what you can make with them!
This is my repurposed project... what is yours? Make sure you join in on the challenge over at the Frilly and Funkie and you could win a fabulous prize from Linda's Boutique, The Funkie Junkie and you can check out what the other Frilly and Funkie Design Team has put together for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello again! Today brings another challenge from The Shabby Tea Room (week #110) and I am your host this week! I have chosen this inspiration photo...
