A special weekend...

over at the Sizzix blog that is. Hello everyone! I wanted to let you know that this weekend you will want to visit the Sizzix blog because, it is a "special" Eileen Hull weekend. I absolutely LOVE her dies and this House Gift Card Holder is no exception.
I die cut the house from the Sizzix Mat Board so, it is a very sturdy gift card holder... if you have never used this stuff, you should try it, you will love it! I wish you could feel the difference from using just paper alone but, pictures can't show you that. Just trust me on this one... okay!
I stamped the roof of the house and added a couple more scalloped layers from paper and lace.
The front door flips down and reveals the gift card... how cute is that? These would make awesome house warming gifts, welcome home baby gifts, etc.
This is just one of Eileen's fabulous dies, head on over to the Sizzix blog and see lots more and to enter the awesome giveaway!

Thanks for stopping by...

Inspired by...

Hello again everyone! I have yet another challenge for you. This one is at the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog. Anita is our host and has chosen as our theme and here are the details from Anita...

Challenge Theme:  Let's pay homage to any of the four big Renaissance Men (or Ninja Turtles...lol) who have inspired us all at one time or another - Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello,  Raphael.Show a project depicting any one or more of their works, tell which it is, and who created it.

I LOVE cherubs so, naturally I would have to pick Rafael's Cherubim for my inspiration.
You will find lots of fun products used on my card from Linda's Zibbet shop The Funkie Junkie. The music paper is from an old hymnal and the pretty little bingo card is from Beatriz Jennings' adorable Etsy Shop.
I love the image...
the sweet, sweet sentiment...
the pretty scalloped lace... okay, I love everything on this card! Hope you get to play along with this fun challenge. Make sure you check back at the Frilly and Funkie next Wednesday to check out what the "Funkie" Designers have created for you.

It's in the bag...

I am back today to share a quick little tutorial using the Sizzix Movers & Shapers Die - In the Bag... this die is the cutest little thing! They are super easy and can be quickly made up for any occasion. I chose to make a thank you bag because we have Bible School here this week so, I am going to throw a couple of gift cards in the bag to give to the sweet lady that does a fabulous job of putting everything together. So, here is how easy they are to make...
Using the Sizzix Movers & Shapers Die - In the Bag, die cut one bag from kraft cardstock. Machine stitch around the front of bag, assemble the bag following the instructions on package. Cut a piece of patterned paper to fit inside the machine stitching on bag, machine stitch around the paper and adhere to the front of bag. Wrap a piece of lace around the bag (about the middle of bag), adhere. Using the Create a Flower Die - Tulip (I am going to have to find the link for this one... having trouble finding it), die cut from felt one stem with the leaves, machine stitch and adhere as shown in the photo.
Using the Flower 3-D, Fringed die, die cut several layers of each size from tissue paper... I have used some Tim Holtz tissue paper. Adhere the layers together or attach them together using a brad, adhere the flower as shown in photo. Adhere burlap piece and center piece of choice to the center of the flower. Adhere bow to the left side of lace. Using the Tiny Tabs & Tags die, die cut from canvas, one small tag and stamp the sentiment in the center... I have used the Minis4circles Stamp Set from Stamps of Life, add button and that is it... easy peasy!
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Sew Crafty...

Hello everyone! I have another challenge for you in The Shabby Tea Room! This week, Starr is our lovely host and chosen a theme of "Sew Crafty" for us. This is the inspirational photo...
Photo inspiration #123
Starr asks that we create a card/project using the colors in the photo for inspiration and add buttons, twin or ribbon along with some stitching (machine or faux). Here is what I have based on the photo...
Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Digital Stamps. I have used the Friendship Sentiment digital stamp. I just printed it out onto some patterned paper and surrounded it with some embellishments. It is that easy to use!
 Cute sentiment... huh?
Hope you get to join in on this challenge. Don't forget to check out The Shabby Tea Room blog to see the fabulous prize package from Bugaboo Digital Stamps to the lucky winner of this challenge.

Altered metals...

Hello everyone! It is Wednesday and time for another challenge at the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog. Linda is our host and has a theme of "Altered Metals" for us. Here is the complete details she has given us for the challenge...

Challenge Theme:  Altered Metals - I love using metals in my card making and mixed media.  For this challenge use metals, but you must alter them somehow.  You can use alcohol inks, acrylic paint, embossing powder or any other medium you choose.  You can even dabble in rusting the metals yourself.  Have some fun and let's see your altered metals!

Sounds like fun... right? I know you have seen these pretty little rusty hearts (you can find them in Linda's Zibbet Shop and you can click on the links below) featured here before but, they are my favorite metals, had to use them again.
I punched tiny holes in the metal and threaded them with vintage cording then added some acrylic paint to them... a very light coating.
I really like the way they turned out, simple but just enough alteration for me. There are so many different types of metal you can play around with. I can't wait to see what you come up with so, I will be looking for your "Altered Metals" creation at the Frilly and Funkie! Make sure you check out the fabulous prize Linda has waiting for the winners of this challenge and don't forget to check out the blog again next week to see what the Funkie Designers have in store for you.
Have a great rest of the week!

Elegance & Lace...

Hello friends... I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing weekend! I am here with another challenge in The Shabby Tea Room. This week, I am the host and have chosen this shabby, gorgeous (in my opinion) inspirational photo for the challenge...
Photo inspiration #122
I love the colors, chandelier, all that lace... EVERYTHING! So, the theme is "Elegance and Lace" and all you have to do is create a card/project using the colors white/cream, kraft, pink and using some lace. This week's sponsor is Crafty Secrets. I have used Pixie Dust Stamp SetSee You Soon Stamp SetArtsy Banner Stamp Set and the Mini Vintage Creative Scraps. You know how I love Crafty Secrets so, I have not one, but two cards for you.
The script writing on the left side of the card is from the Artsy Banner Stamp Set... I never get tired of this set.
Lots of vintage lace from my stash...
the sweet images on both cards are from the Mini Vintage Creative Scraps.
The sentiment is from the Pixie Dust Stamp Set. If you like fairies, this is a must have for your stamp stash.
This card uses everything mentioned above as well as a cute sentiment at the bottom of the card from the See You Soon Stamp Set.
I think you are going to want to join in on this challenge, why? The winner of this challenge wins a  $50 gift certificate from Crafty Secrets!
