Sharing some Sizzix love...

Hello everyone! Okay, you know how much I love the Flowers 3 -D Die from Sizzix.... right? Well, I am finally the proud owner of a Big Shot Pro so, I HAD TO HAVE the Flowers 3 -D, #2 Die! I created this little framed art box to hang in my craft room so I could look at this gorgeous flower everyday! Follow along if you would like to make one for yourself.
Cut a piece of fabric and batting the size of your frame plus an extra three inches around each side (my frame was ten inches so, I cut my fabric 13 X13). Layer the fabric on top of the batting and pin. I then did a cross hatch design for the quilting. Using a piece of heavy cardboard, adhere your fabric piece and place into the frame.
Using the Flowers 3 -D, #2 Die, die cut one large flower from wool felt. Now, I must take a little break from the tutorial to tell you... I assembled everything together, stood back and loved it but, all the sudden something hit me!!!! I should have stitched along the edge of the flower!!!!! Yep, I removed the flower, disassembled it and did just that and OH MY GOSH... what a difference it made!!! It does not really show up in the photo but, trust me, it is well worth the time it took to stitch along the edge of the whole flower.
Okay, back to the tutorial. Stitch along the edge of the flower and assemble. Adhere a piece of lace in the middle of the flower, then a rhinestone button. Adhere two leaves behind the flower on the left side. Adhere a crocheted doily into the center of the fabric, adhere flower in the center of the doily. Adhere a heart resin embellishment above the flower and add "everyday" word sticker.
Using the Tiny Tabs & Labels Die, die cut one large tag and one round tab from patterned paper. Adhere the rounded tab to the right side of tag then, adhere a "life" word sticker in the center of tab. Using the Flowers 3 -D Die, die cut one small flower from felt and assemble. Adhere a small button in the center of the flower. Adhere two small leaves behind the flower and adhere the flower in the center of the tag. Stick a heart pin thru the flower. Using a piece of jute string, thread thru tag and wrap the tag around the big flower in the center and tie into a bow (bow is tied at the top left of flower). Adhere the tag down just a bit so it stays in place. Adhere the "Cherish" wooden tiles along the bottom as shown in above photo, placing a piece of lace behind the first "H".

The wooden tiles and heart resin embellishment are from Prima and the word stickers are Chit Chat Stickers from Tim Holtz.

You are all done... ENJOY! I know I am mine!!!!!

Thanks for your visit today...

Summer Cottage...

Happy Monday morning to you! The challenge this week in The Shabby Tea Room is brought to you from Starr. She has chosen this lovely little inspirational photo for us...
She asks that we create a project/card using the colors in the photo, add some distressing, shabby elements and a title or sentiment. We have two sponsors this week, Digital Paper and My Artistic Adventures.
Its was raining when I took this photo... can you see the raindrops in the background?

I have used the Shabby Chic Banners from Digital Paper and the Shabby Pink Digital Sheet from My Artistic Adventures.
Lots of doilies and some Melissa Frances used as well.
The wooden tiles are from an old Scrabble game.
See you in The Shabby Tea Room! Check out what the other Designers have created for you as well.

Frilly & Funkie resist challenge...

Hello friends... we have a new challenge for you at The Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog. It is all about the resist technique. Sue is our host and has this to say about the challenge:

Challenge Theme: How can you Resist ? -  I am a self confessed technique junkie, I love everything and anything that involves a new technique. I also have my ongoing favourites and Resist is one of them ! You can use different things to create a resist effect, acrylic paint, glue, embossing powder to name just a few. So let's see if you can Resist and show us how you can incorporate this into your projects ! Have fun !
Well, let me tell you, when I first read the challenge theme, I was really worried that I would disappoint everyone. I hate to admit this but, I do not use the resist technique at all.
I can honestly say that I was feeling a wee bit out of my shabby comfort zone... HEAVENS TO BETSY!!!!!
I LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE!!! I stamped my frame image onto some cardstock (with Versamark) and then just started rubbing some Tim Holtz Distress Inks until I was happy (Shabby Shutters & Old Paper). The little white floral Postcard snippet is from Iralamija's Etsy Shop. Pretty much everything else except for the stamped images can be found in Linda's Boutique (see below for the links), great prices and great finds!
So, be sure to stop by The Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog and join in on the fun and to check out what the other "Frilly" Designers have created for you. Don't forget to check back next Wednesday to see the "Funkie" Designers creations.

Have a wonderful day!

Shabby patterns...

Hello everyone! You know by now what Monday is... another challenge in The Shabby Tea Room! This week, I am your host and I have chosen this shabby little photo for our inspiration...
So, the theme is Shabby Patterns and all you have to do is create a project/card using the colors in the photo, a flower/flowers and use a damask pattern.... simple enough. We have two sponsors this week, AR Creations and Paper Sweeties.
I have used the 3 Pocket Caddy and the Envelope Set. This little caddy is stinking CUTE! It makes an adorable little gift holder for any occasion.
I have added a little sack of candy in the back pocket and in the front pockets are little coin sized envelopes with some tags tucked in them.
My damask patterned paper from My Mind's Eye along with a Melissa Frances resin frame, Tim Holtz Sticker and Making Memories metal heart.
I just love the envelope and liner templates... they come in a variety of sizes. My favorite of course, are these coin envelopes. I stamped the bottom of them with a word script sentiment for a little extra touch.
I hope you get time to play along with this challenge. Head on over to The Shabby Tea Room to check out the prizes from these two sponsors and if you are interested, there is a Design Team call to become a Shabby Girl Designer in The Shabby Tea Room.

Thank you for your visit!
